Designer Profile

Sensibly-Creative Design Solutions

When it comes to the interior design of their own homes, clients often have a difficult time knowing what to do, or even where to start. They may have an idea of what they want, but they just can’t seem to pull it together and make it work, which can be frustrating and costly! Maureen’s clients are pleased to hand the reigns to her. She can formulate a vision that expresses their desires and needs to create an exceptional space that is uniquely theirs.

Beautiful design doesn’t have to cost a fortune. For Maureen, sensibility and creativity go hand-in-hand. Many clients do not have champagne budgets, but they still want their homes to look high-end. An investment in several key pieces, strategically-placed throughout the home, along with the right accessories, can often elevate the look, and the perceived value of the entire home. With her discerning eye for detail, and sensible design approach, she will find the right design solution for each and every client.

Maureen has been involved from concept to completion of high-end custom homes where she monitored the process, selected all materials, finishes, fixtures, furnishings, window treatments and colors for the interior, as well as the exterior. She’s comfortable overseeing total renovations entailing space planning, adding architectural details and built-ins, selecting colors, furnishing, and accessorizing full homes; or simply putting the finishing touches on a single room.

She was awarded the certification of Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) from the National Kitchen and Bath Association, and most recently she earned her certification as an Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) from the National Association of Home Builders. Maureen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing and a Certificate in Interior Design. A lifelong learner, she continues to attend classes and seminars to enhance her skills in different aspects of residential design; and to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.

An active member of ASID, Maureen has served as a chapter committee chairperson and was integral to the development of the inaugural NJASID Design Summit in 2007, which continues to be the premiere educational offering to the chapter.

Maureen’s design work has been published in Design NJ, Bergen Health and Life, Morris Health and Life, The Record, Spa Baths, and Designer Kitchens Baths & Other Rooms.

Everything doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Mixing high-end with more economical pieces can work. It’s hard to believe the rattan sofa and chairs were purchased at Pier I. The setting, the accessories, and the more upscale Woodard wrought iron pieces raise the perception of this stunning outdoor room. Photo by Marisa Pelligrini

New floors, architectural details, wall art and a delicate chandelier enhance this once-dull dining room. The antique Baker double-pedestal table and claw-foot chairs (prized possessions of the homeowner) were lovingly restored by a talented artisan. Photo by Peter Rymwid
