Designer Profile

With a winning combination of professional expertise and warm personality, Gale Youngworth, ASID has forged a design career that encompasses a wide range of projects and styles. She specializes in a mix of commercial and upscale residential design and renovation, creating interiors that are custom-fit to meet the needs, lifestyle and budget of her clients. She has in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the design process, which makes her a valuable team member on projects that include architects and contractors.

Gale Youngworth has created stunning interiors for residences as diverse as a chalet in Vermont, a ranch on a 45 acre Napa Valley vineyard, a lakefront vacation home in Pennsylvania and a villa in St. Martin. In the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area, she has worked on numerous upscale residences, including condominiums, apartments, townhouses and private homes. Recently, Gale completed a restoration of the historic Havemeyer Mansion, which is owned by Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey, returning it to an elegant home rich in history and character, in a style consistent with its late 18th century Italianate architecture.

Commercial projects include the total renovation of a bank branch that opened in a vacant ‘60s era building. Her solutions in terms of décor, bank security, safety and accessibility earned her a Design of Excellence Award from the New Jersey Chapter of ASID. Her residential worked was also recognized with a Design of Excellence Award for bringing the spirit of Provence to a Passaic County condominium.

Her firm, Youngworth Design, was established in 1987. Over the years, Gale has earned a reputation as a talented interior designer and an accomplished painter and sculptor. Her background in fine art enhances the creativity and award-winning vision she brings to every endeavor. She earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in fine art from William Paterson University. She spent a year as an exchange student at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She studied interior design at Parson’s School of Design, where she graduated with honors and passed the National Council of Interior Design Qualification exam, becoming NCIDQ-certified.

Her design expertise and her work have been featured in Design NJ, The (Bergen) Record, Elegance by Design, New Jersey Business, New Jersey Savvy Living, Northern New Jersey Builder/Architect, (201) The Best of Bergen and Signature Kitchens & Baths.
