From single rooms to projects up to 15,000 square feet, Satomi is committed to creating original designs and passionate about delivering high quality solutions for her clients.

Satomi is the principal of YZDA/Yoshida & Zanon Design Atrium, a boutique design studio that creates timeless, stylish interiors in the United States and Japan. She has traveled widely, absorbing experiences and ideas from people, fashion, music and cultural phenomena that are evidenced in the form and aesthetics of her work.

Because Satomi excels at bringing the project’s identity and the client’s vision to the forefront of the design process, her clients are engaged every step of the way. Her interiors are a thoughtful reflection of the distinct personality of the project and its geographical location. She offers a full menu of design services, which can be customized to meet the individual client’s needs, and is experienced in collaborating with architects, contractors, and allied design professionals.

As an earth-conscious design professional, Satomi has been an adherent of the sustainable design movement since its beginnings. She focuses on the function of the space and the aesthetic preferences of the client and then thoughtfully chooses materials and finishes that are sensitive to protecting our planet and our healthy minds and bodies. The hallmark of her interiors is a natural palette that incorporates reclaimed and sustainable harvested woods, natural yarn and fiber floor coverings, natural plasters, antique or vintage furniture, energy-efficient lighting, eco-friendly textiles, natural fiber window coverings, and non-toxic paints and finishes.

Satomi Yoshida-Katz was born in Japan and is fluent in Japanese. In 1987, she moved to the United States, where she earned a degree in interior design from Iowa State University. She has completed projects in high end and custom residential, corporate, retail, government and hospitality interior design as well as lighting, furniture and product design. She worked for major design and architectural firms in Seattle and San Francisco. After relocating to Colorado, she opened her own firm, which is now based in northern New Jersey. Her work has been featured in design exhibitions and has appeared in leading design publications worldwide, particularly in the United States, Italy and Japan. She has also contributed her talents to a collection of home and office accessories by a design-driven manufacturer whose line of products has been sold to MOMA, Guggenheim and other museum and contemporary interior shops throughout the world.

Satomi is an allied member of ASID, an associate member of IIDA, an allied member of the New Jersey Hotel and Lodging Association (NJH&LA), and a member of US Green Building Council (USGBC), an organization that works to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.
