Designer Profile

Marlene Wangenheim is a native of the New Jersey/New York area. With her passion for culture and travel Marlene brings her creative talents to her clients in a most innovative and cultivated manner.

Ms. Wangenheim’s left brain, right brain education has allowed her the use of both a scientific as well as artistic approach towards Interior Design. Marlene graduated from Rutgers University with a focus on math and the sciences. It wasn’t until later that she attended Kean University to study Fine Arts and Art History, and onto New York School of Interior Design to attain her degree in Interior Design.

Her quest to learn and observe has led even further to achieve a better knowledge of space and the manipulation of space. She has earned the designation of Associated Kitchen and Bath Designer with the National Kitchen and Bath Association and has recently completed her CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) designation and has gone beyond the designation to be able to teach the CAPS course list to other design professionals. She is also an Allied member of ASID and earned the service award of distinction for and Allied member in 2009.

Marlene’s talent and experience allows her to be able to elevate any space from working with an Architects plan to the final decorative details. With a special interest in construction and renovation her achievements allow her to work with the aging client who wishes to renovate their existing home to stay in permanently and to work with builders in designing home space for 55 and older clientele. Her kitchen designs have been published in local magazines as well as national publications.

Ms.Wangenheim recently won accolades from houzz.com for their 2012 Best of Remodeling Award and has been named as a semi-finalist for the title of 2012 Leading Women Business Entrepreneurs. Her full portfolio can be found on her new website at http://www.ibdnj.com and also on houzz.com.
