Designer Profile

Lori Margolis, an ASID Gold Award Design winner with 25 years of experience in all facets of interior design, is personally involved with every project to ensure each client’s satisfaction. As President and Owner of Commercial Design Group, Lori places an emphasis on following its clients’ visions while adeptly assisting them in choosing the designs and materials needed to meet their needs. When clients do not have a clear vision of their design needs, the firm’s designers skillfully guide them through the process of discovering that vision. For clients who do have a design concept in mind, the designers work collaboratively to create the client’s desired space from concept to completion. For clients who would like new designs incorporated into their existing space, Commercial Design Group seamlessly blends the new designs with the old. The firm’s design expertise, coupled with its sensitivity to clients’ visions and needs, produces spaces that capture the essence of clients’ tastes, lifestyle and individuality.

The executives at the U.S. headquarters of this Danish dairy collaborative wanted a fun atmosphere for the office, the hub of U.S. sales and marketing. We chose a bright color palette and bold, curving graphics, which appear throughout the space as accents.
The reception area contains track lighting that follows a curved graphic pattern illuminating the space with a combination of down lights, wall washers and two pendants that drop down over the accent tables.
Hoping to draw customers inside from the strip mall in which it resides, we created a 1930’s small town theme at this credit union.
Customers can choose to enter a series of storefronts, each of which represents an AFS service.
To reflect the high-tech white panel building exterior – surrounded on three sides by iron grid walkways to prevent maintenance workers from trampling the wetlands – we created several grid design elements.
A series of grids adorn the interior balconies overlooking the atrium.
To open up the space, the lobby atrium has an oculus to simulate a skylight, a theme we repeated throughout the building’s elevator lobbies.

Orange, Blue, and Green pop out against the white backdrop of Yum Yum Yogurt.
Close up of liquid floor tiles used throughout the space of Yum Yum Yogurt. The tiles help lead customers to the self serve machines.
The curved wall is a fun way to serve and create your yogurt treat!
The client needed a media room that could be used for both movies and professional board meetings.
This traditionally designed home theater seats 10 people comfortably for the ultimate movie experience.
Custom built cabinets replicate the look of an old time ticket booth while providing storage and a microwave oven.
Custom molding and woodwork was used to give an elegant feel to the private theater.
Adjoining the home theater is the game room and bar, where family and friends can gather for drinks and games.
A custom sectional sofa allows for the seating to be rearranged as needed.
The bar area seats 4 people and carries the same theme of traditional woodwork as the theater.
Pendant lights accent the bar and wall mounted flatscreen TV allows people to enjoy the game without craning their necks or disturbing others in the seating area.
Custom cabinets and drawers were designed inside the bar to house appliances such as the microwave, refridgerator for beer, and dishwasher.
Curved wall, banquet seating, and ceiling details create a fun atmosphere for Frozen Peaks Yogurt.
Bright colors entice customers into the self serve yogurt shop Frozen Peaks.
The many toppings used to create your yogurt are designed in a fun and efficient way.
The color carries through out the space, from ceiling, to the artwork, to the upholstered stools.
