Designer Profile

Donna Domenicali, Certified Aging in Place Specialist, founded Blue Heron Designs Inc. in 1996 to create space and design solutions that integrate client's passions, accommodate their evolving lifestyle, and anticipate their future needs.

Her work has been published in the books “Asian Influence on American Architecture and Design” and “Designed in New Jersey, An Exquisite Collection of New Jersey’s Finest Designers.” She has also been featured in Design NJ, Prime Woman magazine, the Asbury Park Press “On The Run” section, Star Ledger’s “Ask the Designer,” Jersey Shore Woman, Exceptional Parent, and Monmouth Health and Life.

Donna's knowledge of universal design and aging-in-place are evident throughout her work. Her interest in these areas began during her years at the New York School of Interior Design and led to an introduction to Christopher and Dana Reeve, who allowed her to use their house plans for a senior year project.

As part of her company’s commitment to supporting community projects, Donna has participated in several Habitat for Humanity missions—most recently, the first Women Build home under Coastal Habitat for Humanity. She has also been a guest speaker for several nonprofit groups, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
