Designer Profile

Tere Bresin, ASID, is a nationally recognized, award-winning interior designer whose work embodies a sophisticated, client-centered design philosophy. Matchless space planning skills, extraordinary sensitivity to the clients' needs, the ability and experience to manage major contract and residential projects, innovative lighting solutions and an educated passion for art put her at the forefront of the design world.

As the owner of Beret Design Group, she heads an experienced and conscientious staff that is supported by a full complement of to-the-trade artisans and resources. This wide network of design expertise enables the firm to handle projects in all geographical locations.

Luxurious residential and distinctive corporate interiors are her forté. Technology-driven solutions and custom cabinetry and furniture are among her specialties. She is a valued member of the architect/builder/interior design team with particular expertise in pre-construction planning, building codes and materials specifications.

She has created client amenities that range from the serious to the sublime, encompassing a full range of luxury interiors, from sophisticated pied-á-terres to elegant manor homes. Home theaters, wine cellars, billiard rooms, spa baths, exercise rooms, gourmet kitchens, pool houses and patio kitchens are abundantly represented in the firm's design portfolio.

Corporate clients are attracted to the firm's ability to apply residential ambience to commercial interiors and to bring an artistic sensibility to the practical needs of the workplace. Specialties in the business arena include executive offices, advertising agencies, medical practices, law firms, corporate lobbies and health spas.

Ms. Bresin is National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certified and a past president of the New Jersey Chapter of ASID. Prior to owning her own firm, she held positions as Director of Design and Senior Designer for several architectural firms. Her responsibilities included specifying, scheduling and supervising installation, as well as administrative communication with engineering and construction project teams. Terminal C at Newark Airport for Continental Airlines was completed during her tenure at one of these firms.

National magazines, including House Beautiful, Stone World, and Design Times, regional magazines, including New Jersey Monthly, New Jersey Country Roads, New York Spaces, Savvy Living and Design New Jersey, and area newspapers, including The Star Ledger and The Record, have featured her work.

Design honors include three Gold Awards and four Silver Awards for Design Excellence in the Residential Design Awards Competitions sponsored by the New Jersey Chapter of ASID. In 2000, she received the Silver Award/Single Space Category and the Silver Award/Kitchens Category. In 1998, she received the Gold Award/Showhouse Category for the room she created for the 1997 Mansion in May Showhouse. This same space was honored by Design Times magazine in their January '98 "Best of Showhouses" issue. In 1997, she received the Gold Award/Kitchen & Bath Category and the Gold Award/Residences Under 3500 Square Feet for the renovation of an 1870's Dutch Colonial home, bringing it up-to-date, while respecting the integrity of the original architecture. In 1994, she received the Silver Award/Residences Over 3500 Square Feet for a stunning contemporary renovation. Tere's work has been featured in the recently published Spectacular Homes of Metro New York. New York Spaces named Tere Bresin one of top 50 Interior Designers in Metro New York two years in a row, and New Jersey Life magazine named Tere one of New Jerseys Best Interior and Exterior Designers.

Recent accomplishments include being selected as an interior designer for the popular HGTV show "Designer's Challenge" that is continually airing. The featured dining room is in Oradell, NJ.
