Designer Profile

"For thirty years, my goal has been to design interiors that reflect the wishes of my clients. I take great pride in the fact that I don't dictate to my clients; I listen to your vision and guide you so that when you walk into your home, it's where you want to be more than anywhere else in the world."

This is the mantra that drives every project Miriam Ansell undertakes. Her portfolio contains a wide range of diverse styles, each the result of a spirited collaboration between designer and client. "It shouldn't look like I was there," she says, "and it's important that what I do for one client looks nothing like what I do for another."

Working with clients in New York City, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Miriam has developed a reputation for achieving a sense of balance, beauty and harmony in her interiors. She specializes in simple solutions that give maximum impact. As she guides her clients through the design process, the goal is to seek out the very best solutions, no matter what the budget. She shops the world, from the showrooms of New York to places as far flung as Venice, Jerusalem, Hong Kong, Cambodia and India.

Her designs have appeared in a wide range of publications, including magazines such as Better Homes & Gardens, Design NJ, Traditional Home, Home Theater Interiors, Bucks County Town & Country Living and New York Living and newspapers such as The New York Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Princeton Packet. One of her projects, a historic 1882 country home, was featured on HGTV's "Design Basics."

She shares her passion for interior design with unbridled enthusiasm. Twice a year, she teaches a continuing education course at Bucks County Community College where she shares tips on ways to breathe new life into your home.

Miriam is a graduate of the New York School of Interior Design, with additional course work at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She is an allied member of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers and a professional member of the International Interior Design Association. I am available in all of New Jersey specifically, Princeton, Lambertville, Stockton, Skillman, Summit, Upper Montclair, N. Caldwell, Kendell Park, Flemington, the Ornages, Warren, Bernardsville, Monmouth Junction, Manalapan, East Brunswick, Cherry Hill, Voohres and many more counties and towns.

Everything in this foyer was carefully selected and positioned in order to highlight the architectural qualities of the space. Matching loveseats that declare come sit here, too! can be easily repositioned for entertaining, transforming the area in a variety of ways. ©Photograph by David Van Scott. All Rights Reserved.
To create a room that is both spacious and charming, the designer painted the main ceiling in a soft sage and introduced a coffered ceiling at the top of the landing. Details like the placement of the artwork and the addition of a folding screen draw the visitor into a room that is designed for intimacy and conversation. ©Photograph by David Van Scott. Smart and sophisticated, this custom-made desk is cleverly engineered into a 48 wide foyer in a New York apartment. The mirrors, some with a beveled diamond pattern, are meticulously placed to reflect both inside and outside views, adding depth and drama to the space. ©Photograph by David Van Scott.
